Please join us at the library on March 22nd at 7pm for a spectacular night of Open Mic Poetry.   We are excited to bring two amazing poets to headline this event.

Aubree Blomgren is a poet who holds a Masters of Arts in Poetry from the University of North Texas.  She has a non-traditional like with her husband and two sons, which is always a negotiation and collaboration between family, work and her call to write poetry.  Aubree owns Force Fitness, a studio style gym, where she teaches a myriad of classes focused on intentional motion, that is, moving on purpose with purpose.  Which is also the way she writes.

Fatima Hirsi comes from the water.  She reads enthnographic fieldwork and gives poetry to children in area schools, shelters and community centers as a writer for The Writer’s Garret.  She has appeared in various Sound Culture productions and featured her words across Texas.  Her poetry has been featured in Vagabonds, the anthology of the Austin International Poetry Festival, and the anthology Poem Your Heart Out.  She can often be found in public spaces making poems for strangers on her typewriter.  You can see her work at

Drinks and light snacks will be served but donations are greatly appreciated in order to keep this event going.

If you are a published poet and are interested in headlining one of our NIghts of Poetry in the future, please email us.
