Coming This Week….

Krispy_Kreme_glazed_donuts_2

This weekend is going to hopping at the library.  Saturday we invite Dads and their kiddos for a special Father’s Day story hour at 11.  We’ll have donuts from Funky Town Donuts as well as local favorite Paul’s Donuts. And as always, we’ll have coffee.    We hope to see you for Donuts for Dads to start your Father’s Day weekend with sugar and caffeine.

We are also excited to have Good Neighbor’s Animal Rescue at the library for another pet adoption event which starts at 11.

Then on Sunday at 1pm, the library is hosting a bake sale in honor of Giselle Robinson.  Giselle is an amazing local poet who was diagnosed with terminal liver cancer.  She continues to inspire the poetry community across the country with her defiant will to remain an active participant of life. The sentence handed down by doctors has proven no match for the support and prayers serving as an intrinsic component of her fight.  (Click on her name above to see one of her readings.  You won’t be disappointed.)

All proceeds of the bake sale will go towards Giselle’s medical and travel expenses.  We’ll give her the money later that evening when she joins us as the headliner for Poetry Night.

Starting at 5:30 we will have delicious food provided by Fatima Hirsi and her family for $5 a plate and Divination sessions using Loteria (Mexican bingo) cards (developed by poet Tammy Gomez in 1998) that will be $3 to play with the potential to win a prize. We will also be raffling off a record player and a gift card from Dreamy Life Records.($1 to enter)

This will be followed by Giselle’s first feature in over a year with poetry dedicated in her honor by:
Jordan Kurzyniek
Princess McDowell
Michael Hatecher
Gabrielle Renee Singleton
Tammy Melody Gomez
Rose Ann Meredith
Rage Almighty
Fatima Hirsi
& surprise guests TBA

Please join us this weekend for all these special events.
