Fairmount Community Library presents Reading While Intoxicated! This is going to be an amazing time on Magnolia Ave. in The Near Southside on Saturday, July 30th.

You can purchase a wristband at the Live Oak Music Hall  between 6-7pm.  Then just follow the crowd down Magnolia as you make your way to each participating establishment.  Each bar will feature drink specials for us, all you need to do is buy a $10 wrist band at the first stop to access the specials! All proceeds help keep the library functioning.

We will continue to update the list of bars and drink specials on our website, Facebook page and Instagram, as more sign up.

Stay tuned for information regarding social media contests and details about Finding Waldo.

Thank you so much to the following participants:

  • Live Oak Music Hall
  • The Boiled Owl
  • The Chat Room
  • 44 Bootlegger
  • The Usual
  • The Bearded Lady

Quench your thirst this weekend

Lemonade Sale

To help our neighbors out during Fairmount’s Home Tour, we’ll be selling lemonade in front of the library for a dollar.  All proceeds go towards operating costs of the library.

That means, money raised can go towards printer paper, craft supplies, tape for book binding, wifi, and yes, coffee!

And, as always, the first Saturday of the month means we’ll have Children’s Story Hour at 11 am with a craft to follow.

Author Night, Volunteer Meeting and more!

Meet Emily March

Come listen to best selling author Emily March speak about fiction writing and publishing followed by a Q and A session with the audience!

She is the author of over thirty novels, including the critically acclaimed Eternity Springs series. Publishers Weekly calls March a “master of delightful banter,” and her heartwarming, emotionally charged stories have been named to Best of the Year lists by Publishers Weekly, Library Journal, and Romance Writers of America.

A graduate of Texas A&M University, Emily is an avid fan of Aggie sports and her recipe for jalapeño relish has made her a tailgating legend.

1st Quarterly Volunteer Meeting

Please join us Thursday, March 31st, at 7pm for the first in our quarterly Volunteer Meetings! We love our volunteers and we want everyone to feel involved and up to date on what is happening with the library. Whether you are a current volunteer or someone who may be interested in volunteering in the future, please join us.

We will have pizza, beverages (water or soda), updates on the previous year, exciting news for the upcoming months, and–of course–fun games to follow. If you bring a side dish or dessert to share, that would be fantastic, but is in no way required.

All current volunteers who attend will get a FREE library t-shirt! Anyone who isn’t a volunteer yet who fills out an application and attends training within one month of the meeting also gets a free t-shirt! And you all know we have some cool shirts!

For more information, please see our event page:  Quarterly Volunteer Meeting
